The Dakuleda Changing Colours Initiative has once again demonstrated its commitment to community welfare by providing student mattresses to newly admitted Senior High School students in the Lawra Municipality of Ghana’s Upper West Region.
The objective of the Changing Colours Initiative is to support elderly women by providing mattresses to ensure they sleep comfortably, as well as to equip new SHS students with mattresses to facilitate a restful night’s sleep for a refreshed daily study routine.
At a brief ceremony held at the Dakuleda retail shop in Lawra, the area’s Youth President, Hon. Jeremiah Kpetaa, expressed gratitude for the kindness shown to the local JHS graduates who, through no fault of their own, cannot afford mattresses for school.
“I thank Dakuleda dot come for their timely intervention,” he said, while encouraging other residents to emulate the example set by the organisation’s CEO, Mr Maxwell Maakuu. He also appealed to residents to patronise Dakuleda Dot Com to enable the company to continue its support for the people of Lawra.

Hon. Nale N. Donkurah, the Assembly Member for Lawra Zongo, received the mattresses and pillows, valued at a total of GH₵5,000. He affirmed that the items would be used for their intended purpose, benefiting Lawra’s people, noting that the leading mattress provider was not obligated to make such a gesture but did so out of goodwill.
“It isn’t a requirement to do this, but it reflects your intentions for those in society who need such interventions to remain in school,” he stated.
The Lawra Municipal Director of the Youth Employment Agency, Mr Deerick Saanume, who attended the event, stated that the people of Lawra are grateful to have an industrious son of the area take such a bold step in supporting education and urged the community to support the Dakuleda brand.

Mr Saanume gave his assurance that he would engage in discussions with Dakuleda Dot Com to leverage a YEA module known as “Connect,” which links businesses with workers and other opportunities.

In a prior intervention, the Changing Colours Initiative presented an 8-inch double mattress to a greatly surprised Madam Francisca Egayelle in Dapuori Kpaanyaga, along the Nadowli-Jirapa Road in the Nadowli-Kaleo District. This action followed a request from a group named Daughters of Upper West to Dakuleda Dot Com on her behalf.

This kind gesture grew to include more than just a mattress; pillows, a carpet, and the promise of a metal bed were also provided after the team saw the poor condition of Madam Francisca’s worn-out, woven stick bed
