The Member of Parliament for Wa West, Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu, has rendered an account of his stewardship to his constituents since beginning his second term in parliament.
Speaking from the District Assembly Conference Hall in Wechiau last Tuesday, the retired police officer explained that he was inspired by the actions of former President H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the leader of his party, who also recently addressed the nation.

The legislator, who sees education as a key strategy to reduce poverty in the area, disclosed that he has spent over GH¢304,000 on school fees and other support for students, hoping they can achieve more than he has. “I am supporting the needy but brilliant students to also go to school, come and become better than me,” he added.
In attendance at the meeting were the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Richard Wulo, along with representatives from political parties, chiefs, queen mothers, heads of departments and institutions, as well as other key stakeholders in the constituency’s growth.
Still addressing the gathering, Hon. Tuubo said the assembly has since received over GH¢5 million as its share of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund, which comes with clear expenditure timelines from the government. He stated that “‘aban papa aba’,” meaning ‘a good government has come’.
He gave assurances that the Dorimo E-Block would be completed and upgraded with more facilities to become a full-fledged boarding school. Calling the lack of furniture in schools “very worrying,” he assured attendees that he has made it a priority to procure chairs for schools every year.
He also reported that the extension of electricity in the constituency is steadily progressing to cover more communities, with partners assisting with solar lights to augment power from the national grid.
“The few communities that were abandoned since 2017 up to date, I’m talking about Kao, I’m talking about Verimperi, I’m talking about Meteo, I’m talking about Gurungu,” he added, highlighting areas now receiving attention.
