Final preparations are in full swing for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District, as the annual mock examination sponsored by the Member of Parliament commenced on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
A delegation from the office of the MP for DBI, Hon. Sebastian Sandaare, visited selected schools to monitor the exercise, which is considered a critical part of candidates’ final preparations.
Hon. Evans Naa Gandiibu, Assembly Member for Bussie East Electoral Area, who also doubles as Presiding Member of the District Assembly, led the two-member team. He expressed satisfaction with the standards and general conduct of the examinations.
Hon. Gandiibu also commended teachers for their dedication. “These teachers were supposed to be enjoying their holidays, but they are here working assiduously to prepare the candidates adequately,” he said.
The team, however, noted some absenteeism. An average of two candidates were absent per school as of day two of the exams. At Owlo JHS, seven students were absent.
In total, 519 candidates, consisting of 220 boys and 299 girls, are expected to sit for this year’s BECE in the district. The exams are to be written in May, 2026.
Hon. Sandaare, noted for his passion for improving educational standards in DBI, organises mock examinations annually to help candidates adequately prepare for the main exams.
The Ghana Education Service District Directorate has acknowledged and commended the MP’s continuous support toward raising education standards in the district.
