The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nandom, Hon. Anthony Ziniel, has officially commissioned the Nandom Christian–Muslim Dialogue Committee at a ceremony held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Chalice in Nandom.

In his address, Hon. Ziniel expressed gratitude to both Christian and Muslim communities for their continued commitment to peace and unity. He emphasized that the formation of the committee aligns with the collective aspiration of the people of Nandom to live in harmony and foster mutual respect across religious divides.
“Our country has earned the reputation of being a beacon of peace not because we all think alike, but because we have learned to tolerate and accept each other’s views towards unity of purpose,” he noted.
The MCE highlighted the importance of the committee in addressing issues of disagreement within communities and urged its members to uphold principles of justice, equity, and fairness in their work. He appealed to residents to respect and cooperate with the committee in its efforts to sustain peaceful coexistence within the municipality.
Hon. Ziniel also outlined several ongoing development initiatives under the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion Project (SOCO), a programme aimed at preventing the spread of conflict from the Sahel, reducing vulnerability to climate change, and strengthening local institutions. Projects implemented in the municipality include: the construction of a lawn tennis and basketball pitch in Nandom town, rehabilitation of stores at the main market, a new toilet and disability centre at the market, a football pitch and athletics oval at Gengenkpe, an orthopaedic ward at St. Theresa’s Hospital, a CHPS compound at Gengenkpe, a kindergarten block at Bukong and a community games of socialization.
“These projects,” he said, “are intended to bring citizens together as one people with a common destiny while discouraging any negative influence from extremist elements.”

The MCE commended the Inter-Religious Dialogue Committee and the National Peace Council for their efforts in promoting religious tolerance nationwide. He called for continued support for the newly inaugurated committee to ensure it effectively delivers on its mandate.
The event brought together religious leaders, heads of security agencies, the media, and members of both faith communities.
Hon. Ziniel concluded by declaring the Nandom Christian–Muslim Dialogue Committee duly commissioned, calling on all residents to continue to live in peace and unity.
