You laid a solid foundation selflessly. The foundation was dismantled with greed, you left a vision for our land, this vision was destroyed by hatred, you gave dignity to your country among the comity of nations but this was sold for personal aggrandizement.
You left a philosophy for the youth of Ghana to adopt, but this was burnt by instructions from covetous self serving leaders who are bold in their empty pride.
When I read about your work, I conceive in my mind the country we were and would have been today by your vision and philosophy. When I read about your work and juxtapose the Ghana we had to the contemporary Ghana where power is the only achievement, I bow my head and think beyond the capacity of my head.

Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Ghana in a 21st century has no befitting football pitch to play a football match?
Dr Kwame Nkrumah Ghana cannot pay its debt, subjecting us to international ridicule?
Dr Kwame Nkrumah Ghana, and state proper property are seriously being plundered by people in political power?
Dr Kwame in Nkrumah Ghana, and pensioners are the people who must sacrifice their little savings to salvage an insolvent economy?
Dr Kwame Nkrumah Ghana where our drinking water has become a poison to us just so that some few can be richer?
Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Ghana, where we have demolished state property only to dig a big hole with gargantuan amounts, just so as for an individual to please God, even when our children are suffering?
Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Ghana where sensitive institutions are managed by known partisan politicians?

These questions are endless. Some I understand from the historical narrative, some I cannot fathom! We have loss our sense of nationalism, conscienceism and common sense. Even when those who know within them that we have loss our dignity, they betray themselves by not speaking the truth because silence is a bargain for the largesse and this chain of betrayal continuously expand in a rather predictable concentric pattern. This chorus of silence, gradually matching all of us into the ditch. Clownism, a preference attribute to intellectualism. And those who cherish the new phenomena flourish in dirty wealth. They have filled their stomachs, filled their banks, filled their rooms and now burying their wealth.
Temptations of betrayals lurking around from morning to night and many including those who hitherto were objective, have been swallowed up by the apparent endless vanity pursuit of these wicked demons imposed onto us by the invisible acts of a bigger enemy to the people.
I take solace by the enduring legacies of distinguished nationalists who may not have occupied the same height of niche but who demonstrated their true sense of nationalism, promoting national unity and the collective sense of nation building. May such great men be born again!!!
I was not born to meet you but I saw you in your books you left behind. I look at you and speak to you almost always.
May you and all the ancestors of our land intercede for us and help us liberate this nation from the clutches of wickedness, greed, poverty and discrimination.
Happy birthday, Dr Kwame Nkrumah of blessed memory.
