Women of the St. Monica’s fellowship of the Daffiama catholic parish, yesterday received assorted items to celebrate the resurrection of Christ in this season of Easter.
In a ceremony in Daffiama, where a good number of over seven hundred and eighty members were present, items such as Rice, Sugar, and oil were handed over to Rev. Sister Gabriella Noornah, who happens to be the leader of the group, for onward distribution to the members.
Lawyer Thedeaus whiles, handing over the items, said the situation, especially during this time of the year, demanded such interventions for the plight of the women.
He also thanked God for making it possible to donate to the women in the area and called on other indigenes to come and support the women in the area.
‘Once we come from this place, we always want to pray and hope that we all come together and support those who are with us here also and show them love and humanity on some of these occasions’, he added.

Rev. Sister Gabriel Nornaah, the founder of the St. Monica Widows membership, was, however, grateful for the kind donation by the astute lawyer.
She said the membership of the group, however, was overwhelming, hence making it impossible to cater for women with her scanty resources, and express much gratitude to lawyer Thadeus for his kind gesture.
Rev. Sis Gabriela commended Lawyer Sori for supporting the membership for five consecutive years. She added that the efforts this year have been more appreciated due to the bad rains last year that destroyed several farms in the area.

She, however, called on the government and other benevolent people to support the widows in the area, as she has very little to support them as a leader.
Rev. Father James Nasalbataryeb, Chaplain of The Immaculate of Mary Parish, Daffiama, added that the widows are really needy people who need support to have smiles on their faces.
He further stated that the widows, as well as having children under their care, further make their situations worse, as many times they are old and weak and can not even engage in any proper farming and are not properly catered for at home.
Rev. James also lamented the manner in which women are also treated regarding lands left by their husbands.
‘Many at times, even the lands that are left for them, those that have taken charge would pick all these lands and this woman are there struggling,’ he added
