Members of NPP in tertiary institutions here in the Upper West Region of Ghana, on the 18th of January, held a meeting with the leader of the party, Nana Akuffo-Addo.
In an unprecedented cue of party executives and top party Officers ever in the history of the Confederation of the student organisation of the party.
In the company of the NPP campaign chairman, the acting General Secretary and organiser of the party, John Buodu, and others, in a sitting that least expected the party’s Flagbearer at Upland Hotel.
The meeting room turned to cheers and chants when Nana Addo stepped in to join them out of his busy schedule for the night after meeting with lecturers and other elites in the region, as he was initially scheduled out of the TESCON meeting. Without notice, the leader of the opposition party showed up with his Running mate, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.
Nana Ado assured the leadership of TESCON that the party was going to work very seriously with them and charged all TESCON members to identify themselves with their respective polling areas, as that could guarantee their loyalty to the party and also make them known to the party where they are based.
The students who chanted their slogans as ‘commitment, without inducement’ were encouraged to be more passionate about the victory of the party, as that was the only way to win the elections.
The acting chairman of the party, Fredy Blay, said the party was going to be very vigilant in the coming election to avoid any rigging and that TESCON members were going to serve as polling agents, amongst others.
The leadership also explained that over 5000 members of the party were already going through various forms of training on electoral processes across the country.
The National Women’s Organiser called on the student leadership to encourage more ladies into the membership, as the executives didn’t have many females among them.
The TESCON leadership were, however, grateful for the attention given to them by the party and tasked themselves to be the lights of the party anywhere they found themselves to ensure victory come November 7th, 2016.
