Spiritual mobilisation is underway in the Upper West Region as the Catholic Bishop of Wa, Most Rev. Francis Bomansaan, M.Afr., officially announces the 2nd Rosary Congress. This major religious event will gather the faithful at the Wa Sports Stadium from October 22nd to October 24th, 2026.

The announcement was made via an official diocesan circular dispatched from the Bishop’s Office at the Catholic Diocesan Secretariat, Maria Yiri, Wa.

Organised by the Diocese of Wa and the Global Rosary Network, the upcoming congress is spearheaded by the network’s director, Rev. Fr. David Obeng Paintsil.

In his address to all parishes, religious communities, institutions, and people of goodwill, Bishop Bomansaan emphasised that the congress is not just a localised event but an open invitation stretching across the Tamale Ecclesiastical Province and beyond.

“The Blessed Virgin Mary is the mother of the Church… She continuously intercedes for us in different ways and in different situations. I would like to ask for your collaboration and prayers for the success of this event as we invoke the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Africa and the new evangelisation.”

The Bishop recalled the recent celebration on May 25th dedicated to Mary, Mother of the Church, noting that it served as a profound confirmation of her maternal protection and role in the Christian journey, a devotion that the upcoming Congress aims to deepen.

The diocese anticipates a large turnout at the Wa Sports Stadium, aiming to bring together thousands of Catholics and Christians from various backgrounds to pray for peace, spiritual renewal, and the success of the new evangelisation on the continent.

Bishop Bomansaan concluded his circular by expressing his sincere appreciation in advance for the cooperation, consideration, and active participation of the public, reassuring all of his continuous prayers and cordial regards.
