In a major boost to healthcare accessibility, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa (DBI) constituency has fully funded a comprehensive National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewal drive across the district.
The initiative, which has been operational for over a month, provides complete financial backing to the district’s NHIS office, effectively removing financial barriers for thousands of residents seeking essential medical care.

To ensure universal coverage and eliminate the need for constituents to travel long distances to central offices, a mobile NHIS registration team is currently touring various communities within the district.
The fully funded operation offers three core services entirely free of charge to all constituents. First, the mobile teams are handling new member registrations, which involve enrolling residents who have never previously held an NHIS card.
In addition to new enrollments, the team is executing instant card renewals to reactivate expired health insurance cards immediately. Finally, they are performing critical data updates by correcting primary contact numbers and updating essential subscriber details directly within the national database.

Because the entire exercise is fully sponsored by the lawmaker, constituents are heavily cautioned that no payment is required at any stage of the process.
According to the lawmaker, this aggressive registration and digital update drive is strategically aligned with the broader vision of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to roll out its flagship Free Primary Health Care policy.
Taking to his official social media platforms, the MP urged locals to maximise the opportunity to secure their health insurance status.
“My appeal to everyone is to take advantage of this free exercise being carried out by the National Health Insurance Scheme in the district,” the MP stated. “Remember, your health is your concern, and with your NHIS card, you have access to healthcare.”

The mobile NHIS team is actively moving from neighbourhood to neighbourhood. Constituents are advised to look out for the team in their respective communities or contact their local Assembly Members for the specific dates and schedules for their areas.
