On Tuesday, 3 February 2026, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Daffiama-Bussie-Issah, Hon. James Wor, led a high-powered delegation from the Assembly to break ground for a new Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Daffiama-Naayirikore. This initiative represents a landmark step in expanding healthcare accessibility for rural residents across the district.
The project is strategically designed to bring essential medical services directly to the community’s doorstep. Currently, residents of Naayirikore face the gruelling challenge of travelling long distances, often at night, to reach the Daffiama Health Centre for basic care.
Addressing the chiefs and residents, Hon. James Wor detailed the facility’s key features, which include a maternity ward and dedicated staff accommodation. He further assured the public that the compound would be outfitted with modern medical apparatus and essential logistics to ensure high-quality care from day one.
The DCE committed to a swift timeline, noting that the project is slated for completion within just six months. Expressing his gratitude to local leadership for providing the land, he urged residents to actively support the contractor, Nash-Con Construction Company Limited, through communal labour and local assistance to expedite the build.
Madam Genevieve Yiripare, the District Director of Health Services, commended Hon. James Wor for his unwavering dedication to improving health infrastructure and supporting frontline staff. She echoed the DCE’s call for community vigilance, urging residents to help safeguard building materials at the site to ensure a seamless construction process.
The ceremony also served as a launchpad for broader infrastructure goals. The DCE announced the revitalisation and completion of several previously abandoned projects, specifically aimed at bolstering surgical services and improving the overall quality of life within the DBI District.
In a final stop at Fian, the DCE performed a second sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a new kindergarten block. This move underscores the Assembly’s dual commitment to health and education, ensuring a solid foundation for the district’s youngest learners.
