In a major move to streamline investment and accelerate growth, the Upper West Regional Minister, Lawyer Charles Lawnga Puozuing, has announced the official launch of the region’s comprehensive developmental plan.
The launch is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Wa Naa Palace.
Themed the “Upper West Sheapark Resource Hub,” the plan is designed to serve as the primary guide for investors. According to the Minister, the hub will provide a centralised data system to help stakeholders channel resources purposefully and make informed decisions about the region’s potential.
The announcement was made during the Minister’s engagement with the Chiefs and traditional authorities of the Kojokperi Traditional Council on Friday, January 23. This visit is part of an ongoing regional tour to pay oversight courtesies to all traditional councils.
Addressing the people of Kojokperi, Minister Puozuing highlighted the government’s commitment to the agricultural sector through the establishment of a Farmer Service Centre in the area.

The Minister emphasised that the centre aims to protect farmers from price gouging by middlemen:

He further assured farmers that the government is taking active steps to resolve the current maize glut, ensuring that bumper harvests do not lead to financial loss for local investors.
On the topic of infrastructure, the Minister confirmed that the Funsi-Issa-Kojokperi road is part of an expansive project connecting through Kundugu to Fumbisi in the Upper East Region.
Reiterating the vision of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the Minister assured residents that the country would soon resemble a “construction site,” while expressing deep gratitude to the region for its “overwhelming endorsement” during the 2024 elections.
Regional Tour Progress
The Minister began his tour of the region’s paramountcies on Monday, January 19. To date, he has visited over 20 traditional areas, including:
Sissala & Lambussie Zones: Tumu, Gwollu, Pulima, Zini, and Lambussie.
Western Belt: Nandom, Lawra, Ullo, and Jirapa.
Wa East & Central: Manwe, Bulenga, Kundugu, Funsi, Kojokperi and Issa.
