DAFFIAMA, Upper West Region – The Member of Parliament for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa (DBI), Dr Sebastian Sandaare, has issued a passionate plea to his constituents to prioritise unity and embrace the wave of development entering the district.
Speaking during a high-profile visit by the Regional Minister to the five traditional councils in the DBI district on Friday, January 23, 2026, Dr Sandaare emphasised that internal divisions and “sectional politics” serve only as roadblocks to progress.
Dr Sandaare argued that the true spirit of decentralisation lies in the fair distribution of resources across all traditional areas.

“We shouldn’t play too much sectional politics,” the MP stated. “It is not good for the development of a district like DBI. Decentralisation must work so that development is equitably distributed. This is a message I have maintained consistently across all paramountcies, and I am reiterating it here in Daffiama.”

The visit also served as a platform for local stakeholders to voice urgent needs. The Daffiama Men Association, represented by their secretary, Dr Moses Dumayiri, presented a formal petition to the Regional Minister. Key requests included: Extension of the electricity grid, Establishment of a reliable town water system and tarring of major roads within the traditional area.
A point of particular tension involves the proposed District Education Office and Director’s Bungalow. Dr Dumayiri expressed the community’s “shock” over reports that these facilities, originally earmarked for Daffiama, were being redirected to Issa. He noted that Daffiama has sacrificed by hosting the Education Office in temporary structures since the district’s inception in 2012.
Responding to these concerns, the Regional Minister thanked the people of Daffiama for their “overwhelming endorsement” of the NDC government in the 2024 general elections.
The Minister used the occasion to formally invite the Daffiama Naa, Dekongman Domalee, to the upcoming regional development summit, which he titled “The Blueprint for the Development and Investment of the Upper West.” The event, scheduled for January 31, will be attended by H.E. President John Dramani Mahama.

Addressing the controversy over the Education Office, the Minister assured the cheering crowd that the President is committed to “across-the-board” development. “When the construction of the education office begins, it will be placed exactly where it ought to be,” the Minister promised, met by resounding applause from the gathering.
The minister earlier visited Kojokperi, Issa and Bussie Traditional councils and extended gratitude and listened to them as part of measures to rest the country in a “more positive manner”
