Yesterday, 12 December, was a big day for the Dr Hilla Limann Technical University (DHLTU) in Wa.
The Honourable Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq., officially started the building of a new 400-bed student hostel.
Speaking at the event, the Minister spoke for His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama. He made it clear that the government is strongly committed to improving school buildings and facilities all over the country.
Solving the Accommodation Challenge in the institution, this new hostel will help solve the big problem of student housing and give students a safe place to live right on campus, as well as serve as a good living environment, which will help students focus on their studies and do better in school.
The project is planned to be finished in 18 months. It will help manage the growing number of students and improve their living and learning experience.
Hon. Puozuing thanked everyone involved, including the Ministry of Education, the University leaders, and the Contractors, saying that working together is key to making big projects happen.
The Minister also asked the contractors to hire people from the local community for the building work. This means the project will not only help students but also create jobs and economic benefits for the area around the university.
Looking to a brighter future, the act of starting the construction is a major step forward for DHLTU students and shows the government’s plan for national development.
This landmark project is a sign of new and better educational chances for students now and in the future. The Upper West Regional Co-ordinating Council is very thankful for all the support and is looking forward to seeing the project finished, which will greatly improve education in the region.
