Hon. James Wor-DBI DCE

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District, Hon. James Wor, has issued a stern warning to contractors engaged in substandard projects, cautioning them to “stay away” from his district.

Hon. Wor made the remarks while speaking in the studios of the Wa-based station, Radio Waa. He was reacting to several projects he had rejected due to poor quality concerns since assuming office.

If you look at the Wogu dam that the was reassigned as SOCO that the contractor is failing to work on, was a GSOP dam, and they awarded as One Village One Dam and destroyed it and re-awarded as SOCO

He lamented that several contractors have had to be “called to order” after delivering shoddy work in the area.

The DCE cited specific examples of poor project execution, including: a maternity ward building at the Issa Health Center, a football park at Kojokpei, and a dam construction project at Wogu

On the Wogu dam issue, Hon. Wor expressed frustration that three different funding sources had been channelled into the project with “no benefit to the residents of the area”

He explained that the project, which was originally constructed under the Ghana Social Opportunities Project (GSOP), was subsequently re-awarded under the One Village One Dam (1V1D) initiative. He stated that this second phase “didn’t see the light of day.”

The dam was later awarded a third time as a SOCO project, which he noted should have been completed by now.

“If you look at the Wogu dam that was reassigned as SOCO, which the contractor is failing to work on, it was a GSOP dam, and they awarded it as One Village One Dam and destroyed it and re-awarded it as SOCO,” he lamented.

The vociferous Chief Executive also outlined his broader strategy for bringing development to the district. He stressed his intention to build partnerships with “sons and daughters in the area,” emphasizing that these efforts would be “devoid of political affiliations.”

He concluded by underscoring the need to take farming seriously
