Former President John Dramani Mahama commiserated the death of Cardinal Richard Kuuia Baawobr at the St. Andrew Cathedral in Wa on the 5th of January 2023.
Cardinal Richard Kuuia Baawobr was ordained Bishop of Wa Catholic Diocese on the 7th of May 2016 at the age of 56. Pope Francis created him Cardinal on the 27th of August 2022 and he died on the 27 November 2022 while receiving treatment for a heart complication.
Addressing the congregation led by Fr Mathew Tuurosong, the former president explained that he had come to commiserate with the catholic faithful, especially of the Wa diocese over the loss of their shepherd.
The former president however described the late bishop as a good man, who did much for society especially, the mentally retarded in the area.
The bishop was buried on Thursday 12th January, 2023 at the St. Andrews Cathedral Hall where the former president also laid a wreath at the grave.
In attendance was the president of the Republic of Ghana and other catholic faithful from across the globe.
