The Member of Parliament for the Daffiam-Bussie-Issa, Dr Sabestian Sandaare, today visited Santaayiri and Neereeyiri, both suburbs of Bussie in the Upper West Region, where he witnessed narratives on the difficulties of getting portable water in the area.
The two communities have to depend on two old wells, which at the time of the visit were virtually out of water, leaving the women distressed while waiting to drain the next ooze of water in the wells.

Several calls to the government by the residents to help fix their poor situation ended in futility.
The Member of Parliament was in a meeting he was invited to attend by the youth of the communities. The people complained bitterly about the situation, prompting the MP to inspect the water sources so he would be abreast of the situation.
The medical doctor, however, assured the people, something urgent would be done to salvage their suffering, as water is a necessity to nature.
“Within the shortest possible time, I will do the needed mobilisation to help you. I feel so bad hearing and seeing this, myself,” the MP stated while addressing the meeting.
He stated that the location of the communities mandates that access to portable water should not be undermined. ”At least, irrespective of whatever challenge we face, access to water in a town like Bussie should not be a problem”, he added.

The people were, however, pleased with the prompt response by the Member of Parliament to be part of the meeting and are grateful for his pledge to support their sorry situation.
The MP and his entourage later visited Issa, where he inspected an office complex under construction for the National Health Insurance. This was after the MP made a strong case for the need to have such an office to serve in the constituency.
Fortunately, the project was catered for in the 2019 budget.
Addressing the media after the inspection, the Lawmaker demonstrated his joy over the progress and quality of work at the facility.
He also thanked the government for paying heed to his calls to have a befitting NHIS office for the district, as he promised to continue with his advocacy and lobbying skills to draw the government’s attention to the needs of the people.
Straight News Blog reports that Hon Sebastian Sandaare later met with some party chairmen of the Issa ward for greetings. He also visited Duang and Kparidabuo, respectively, to extend condolences to families that lost relatives while he was away from the constituency.
He was accompanied by the constituency executives.
