The country director for Direct Aid, Mohammed Saed Dali, visited the Upper West Regional capital, Wa, last Monday, 22 May 2017.
Mohammed Saed, whose charity organisation has been supporting orphaned children in the region, received a rousing welcome from residents of Wa, including Children, Women, and disabled persons.
The country director of the Quata-based charity organisation was hosted by Noor Islamic, an Islamic Development Institution, as they have partnered in a number of poverty interventions in the past and current.
Noor Islam in the region has supported over one hundred and forty-eight (148) orphaned children with various sums of cash and assorted items.
Addressing the gathering, the philanthropist said he was grateful for the reception given him and that he was overjoyed at the turnout. The country director further asked that prayers be said to God in honour of all the support.
Mohammed Saed added that the organisation had branches in over 29 countries in Africa and had offices in Tamale, Kumasi, Cape Coast, and Accra, here in Ghana. He said issues of orphans were their priority because Prophet Mohammed was an orphan.
He also added that he was in the region to sight a suitable location to build a 400 square meter mosque here in Wa and to inquire more about the needs of the people.
The Managing Director of Noor Islamic Mr. Alhassan Iddrisu, explained that a misconception in the public domain about the operations of the institute was hindering the progress of the good works being carried out.
Mr Iddrisu said their relationship with sponsors is very cordial and wished it were the same in its operational area of the region. He, however, called on every orphan to call on them as he erased the notion that the institute wasn’t sponsoring only Muslim orphans
