The 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nandom Community Bank (formerly Nandom Rural Bank) marked a significant milestone this week, culminating in a decisive victory for community-focused leadership.

In a powerful display of democratic trust, Desmond Demegang Kunaa Der was elected as a Director on the Board, securing an impressive 118 votes (68%)

Reflecting on the achievement, Desmond expressed profound humility and gratitude to the shareholders. “I am extremely humbled by the trust and confidence placed in me,” he shared in a statement. He also extended a gracious nod to his colleague, Kumasi-based legal practitioner Lawyer Marshall Belieb, noting, “To my Snr at the Bar, Lawyer Marshall Belieb, my only contender, I am proud of you for pulling those votes.”

Looking ahead, Desmond has set a clear vision for his tenure on the board. Emphasising collaboration over competition, he stated, “Together, we will continue to strengthen our mission of financial inclusion, empower local enterprises and farmers, and drive sustainable growth for our community”

His rallying cry for the district was simple and resonant: “NANDOM WON IN ALL!” In keeping with his commitment to the bank’s future, Desmond encourages all community members to support the institution by acquiring shares.

The digital response to the news has been nothing short of electric. Desmond’s Facebook wall has been flooded with well-wishes from supporters, colleagues, and community members, all celebrating his new role.

Here are just a few of the messages currently lighting up his feed:

The consensus is clear: the community views the portfolio not just as a win for Desmond, but as a major step forward for the economic prosperity of Nandom. As he steps into this new leadership capacity, the support from shareholders remains his strongest asset.
