The Upper West Regional Minister, Lawyer Charles Lwanga, has called on the Ghana Bar Council to decentralize the Bar exams to accredited institutions in the country.
He made this statement last Monday in Wa while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Ghana Bar Conference, held at the Simon Diedong Dombo University for Business and Integrated Development Studies.
He said it would be a bold and progressive step for legal education in the country. “On behalf of the Chiefs and people of the Upper West Region,” he stated, “I rise to respectfully, but firmly appeal to the government and the General Legal Council to take a bold and progressive step to decentralise the Ghana Bar exams to all accredited faculties of law across the country, including the Simon Diedong Dombo University.”

The Ghana Bar Association held its 2025 national conference in the Upper West Region for the first time last week, with participants from all over the country in attendance.
Addressing the gathering, the Regional Bar President, Lawyer Sidik Ubaidu, called for an additional High Court in the region.
The theme for this year’s conference was “Sustaining the 4th Republican Constitutional Democracy: The Role of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession,” and it was attended by highly respected men and women from the country’s legal fraternity.
This conference brought together legal practitioners to discuss critical issues affecting the nation’s development and the legal profession.
