Fulbe herdsmen living in and around Sing in the Wa Municipality are complaining of unscrupulous persons who constantly terrorise them over stay permits and other documents.
The Fulbe, who often stay in farms mostly owned by natives, are sometimes compelled by some other natives to pay money by way of extortion.
Sahadu Adama, a Fulani herdsman from the area, is reported to have said that every month, different individuals come seeking documents they often refer to as permits. Upon failure to produce such documents, they are charged without receipts.
The Fulbe are often accused by natives of vices such as the stealing of cattle, robbery, and other societal malfeasance in the area.
In recent times, a number of high-profile cases in the region saw several Fulbe in dominance, thereby creating a large impression as such for the Fulbe tribe.
Progressnewsonline.com has reported that the Fulani people want to be identified by persons rather than tribe.
